This internationally known festival is located in the quiet, southern town of Salley, South Carolina (population 410) and is held annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Each year approximately 25,000 visitors converge on Salley to celebrate one of the more unusual food items available, chitterlings. Quite simply, chitterlings (or chitlin's) are fried pig intestines and have been a southern tradition for over one-hundred years.
Many of the traditional activities that make up the Chitlin' Strut will once again take place in 2007 including the parade, hawg-calling and strut contests, food and craft vendors, beauty pageant and carnival rides. We also will be having an Antique Tractor Show this year.
So come on out and try some of them chitlin's! Okay, well if you don't want to try the chitlin's, we won't hold it against you! But you can't say you've been to the world famous Chitlin' Strut until we see ya! |
