Drawing the Sun Fun Festival®–A Celebration of Summer to a close, the Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival will take place on Labor Day weekend the evening of August 31 and all day September 1. The festival will feature family-friendly entertainment and events, including live music, the official barbeque competition of South Carolina, a car show, a kids’ area, boat rides, arts and craft vendors, giveaways and more.

Smoke on the Beach, a barbeque competition sponsored by the Omar Shrine Temple, will begin festivities on Friday with an Anything But Pork, Best Sauce, Best Dessert, and Best Booth/ Showmanship contest. Participants will begin competing in the barbeque cook-off that evening and continue on until Saturday morning’s judging. The event holds a prize purse totaling more than $20,000 combined for all judging categories. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to sample and purchase the mouth-watering food and barbeque after judging both Friday and Saturday. Don’t forget to bring your appetite!

Car enthusiasts can park themselves at Wheels at the Beach, the Myrtle Beach Car Club’s car show. The show takes place Saturday afternoon, with all proceeds benefiting the Grand Strand Miracle League charity. Winners will be named in several categories, including best of show, people’s choice and best work in progress. Come out and vote for your favorite!
