The North Carolina Chili Championship & Rubber Duck Regatta

Annually - September (date TBD), 2008
www.ncchilichampionship.com

What began as a small festival in the streets of downtown Winston-Salem has blossomed into the largest chili event in North Carolina.  The March of Dimes NC Chili Championship is a day filled with great family fun, including live country music, the Beth Tartan State Cake Bake, a NASCAR silent auction, the Kids Korral games and entertainment area, and arts & crafts for sale.

But it’s not all just fun and games.  As the sun begins to rise, nearly 100 cooking teams begin preparing their secret recipes for competition.  Valuable Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) points are up for grabs for winners in the Traditional Texas-style and Showmanship categories.  There is also a Creative Free-style competition, for those who want to try something a little different.

And don’t forget the Rubber Duck Regatta.  Thousands of rubber ducks race down the Yadkin River for valuable prizes.  It’s a sight to see!
