A 30-minute video depicting real life traffic fatalities in South Carolina has been created in an effort to raise awareness about unsafe traffic behaviors that can have disastrous consequences.
Developed by the AAA Carolinas’ Foundation for Traffic Safety, it is primarily aimed at teenagers and young adult drivers, encourages the use of seat belts (now a primary law in South Carolina), shows the painful results of drunken driving and depicts the aftermath of crashes caused by speeding and distracted driving.
“It’s easy to become numb to the media’s daily recitation of traffic deaths,” said Thomas R. Crosby, president of AAA Carolinas’ Foundation for Traffic Safety. “This video graphically depicts the impact traffic crashes have on everyone involved – from the victims, to relatives, to law enforcement, to medical personnel, to friends, and ultimately, to all of us who drive the state’s roads. Not everyone will find it easy to watch but it is a message everyone should hear.”

Commissioned by the AAA Carolinas Foundation for Traffic Safety, it was filmed by Garrison Services in Charlotte, NC, and involved interviews and conversations with surviving crash victims, relatives of those killed in fatal crashes, law enforcement personnel and emergency medical technicians.
AAA Carolinas’ Foundation for Traffic Safety is a tax-exempt, nonprofit foundation supported by contributions from AAA Carolinas to provide information and resources to educate the public on traffic safety as well as influence behavior to improve safety on the roads of North and South Carolina. |
