When you visit a wine and food festival, the expectation is to sample exquisite wines and unique foods that spark further interest in visiting a winery or a fine restaurant.
Charleston’s BB&T Wine and Food Festival, set for March 1-March 4, is a titillating smorgasbord of the dining excellence in the South Carolina city visited most often by residents of North and South Carolina. It’s a crown jewel of Southern hospitality, charm and good living.
For the epicureans, gourmets and those just looking for something unique, the festival offers wine receptions at historic homes, restaurant dine-around, talks by culinary authors, chefs preparing special meals, cooking competitions, a culinary village and even a kid’s village for those under 12 years of age.
A gospel brunch and barbeque preparation wind up the 4-day event on Sunday.
Hobnobbing with the best can be costly, though. A quick tally for someone attending as many events as possible could total more than $1,000 from a $20 King Street Sip & Stroll to $500 for a penthouse 5-course dinner prepared by renowned chefs. – Tom Crosby |
