Driver Improvement Classes
Getting a traffic ticket can be costly. In addition to a traffic fine, insurance rates may increase and violation points can be added to your home state’s driving license. Some states like Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee allow traffic offenders to avoid conviction if they take a AAA Driver Improvement course.
The eight-hour course is open to anyone seeking to improve their driving.
You may sign up by calling AAA’s Traffic Safety office at 888-274-4459. AAA members’ discount price is $55, nonmembers $65. Classes are from 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Upcoming dates and locations:
- Charlotte: Sept. 9, Oct. 7
- RTP-Durham: Sept. 16, Oct. 14
- Winston-Salem: Sept. 23, Oct. 21
- Asheville*: Sept. 30, Oct. 28 (*9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Senior Drivers Assessment
Senior drivers can use an interactive CD-ROM called Roadwise Review to measure eight physical and mental abilities shown to be the strongest predictors of crash risk among older drivers. Roadwise Review tests a drivers’ leg strength, general mobility, visual acuity, working memory, visualization of missing information and useful field of view.
