The July/August Picture Yourself feature photo was of Monument Valley, an area of freestanding sandstone rock forms that rise from the desert floor along the Utah/Arizona border. Up to 1,000 feet tall, they create a magical desert landscape. The beauty of the area is a fact well documented by numerous Western movies and television commercials for which Monument Valley has served as a backdrop. (So whether or not you were aware of it, you have very likely already seen Monument Valley.) Available activities include guided hiking, horseback riding, Jeep and ATV tours, or you may choose a scenic drive along a very bumpy 14-mile dirt road.
