Mystery Photo Contest

Ever looked at a picture and wished you could be there, exactly where that picture was taken? Well, each issue we include a photo of a destination that might spark those feelings. The photo might be of a famous landscape, a well-known statue or something more off kilter, but all are places worth experiencing.

If you know where the photo was taken, tell us. Five names will be drawn from correct responses to receive copies of The New York Times Bestseller, “1000 Places to See Before Your Die,” by Patricia Schultz.

You never know, winning might just influence you to see the world like you’ve never seen it before.

Entries should be submitted to: Picture Yourself, AAA Carolinas, 6600 AAA Drive, Charlotte, NC 28212 or e-mail to pictureyourself@mailaaa.com
Check each issue for the answer to the previous issue’s mystery destination.

Disneyland Resort’s centerpiece, Sleeping Beauty Castle, in California was the September/October Picture Yourself feature photo. The fairy tale structure is the smallest of the Disney castles, but many feel the smallness gives the castle a quaint charm. It is said Walt Disney himself wanted a smaller castle because medieval European nobility and lords built large imposing castles to intimidate commoners, so Disney wanted a more accessible castle. In fact, Disney had a profoundly stretched budget when constructing his Magic Kingdom, and in spite of the positive spin he tried to place on it, the castle was made as large as he could afford.
