Disney's Port Orleans- The French Quarter, captures the spirit of New Orleans preparing for Mardi Gras. It is located on the Sassagoula River, between Downtown Disney® and Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside. The Mint is the hub of resort activity housing check-in, guest services, shops, restaurants, the food court and arcade.
The resort is designed to resemble row houses of New Orleans, with their diverse architectural styles. The rooms are contained in six three story buildings with facades of brick, and others painted in shades of blue, aqua, and peach. Many of the buildings have courtyards, fenced with the wrought iron so prevalent in New Orleans. The rooms contain two double beds and sleep up to four. The pool area, Doubloon Lagoon, is built around a sea serpent, with the waterslide built into the creature's tongue.
The full-service restaurant, Boatwright's, is shared with Port Orleans - Riverside (and located there) so it can get extremely crowded for breakfast and dinner. Reservations are really needed. The food court is fairly large, with a good variety of offerings and fast service.
The waterway access to Downtown Disney's® nightlife and shopping is convenient and easy. You can even rent your own boat to transport yourself to Downtown Disney®!
Very popular with families, the resort can get quite 'busy', especially during peak periods. All-in-all a superior value. Upgrade to a quiet river view room and have a luxury stay at a moderate price!
Buses are the mode of transportation to the theme parks, here. However, internal transportation to minor parks and other resorts is a bit more convenient here because of its proximity to the Downtown Disney® transportation hub. But, if you plan on dining frequently at other resorts or spending a lot of time at the water parks, a car can save a lot commuting time. |
