Get in the island spirit at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. This island playground features seven pools and pristine white-sand beaches on the shores of a 45-acre lake - just across from Epcot®.
It's a sprawling resort with seven 'clusters' of two-story buildings, painted in bright island colors. The rooms are functional, but smaller than those for Deluxe resorts - furnished with two double beds, they sleep up to 4 persons. Each cluster of buildings has its own non-themed pool, guest laundry facilities, plus a stretch of white sand beach.
The main pool is well-themed, evoking times when pirates ruled the Caribbean seas. The playground located near the main pool is especially well-equipped and a favorite of youngsters. The main building, Old Port Royale houses reception, shopping and eateries. The table-service restaurant, Shutters, serves casual American fare with inspiration from the Caribbean. The food court is quite nice with plenty of counter service options to accommodate a variety of tastes.
The resort is extremely large and spread out, so many of the rooms are not particularly convenient to the main pool and dining areas. You can request a room close to the Old Port Royale for a higher rate. Deservedly popular with families, the main pool and food court can get quite crowded during certain times of the day.
Transportation is direct bus service to all the major theme parks and other Walt Disney World® destinations. A car can speed commuting to the major and minor theme parks, and is really essential if you are going to frequent other resorts for dining or entertainment. |
