The Wilderness Lodge

Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a Deluxe resort located across a finger of Bay Lake from the Contemporary Hotel. It is particularly well-themed, inspired by the U.S.

National Park Service lodges built in the early 1900s. There is even a geyser, modeled after those found in Yellowstone Park, that erupts every hour during the day. The pool feels as if it has been carved out of a rock formation and includes a waterslide. There is also a kiddie pool for the little ones.

The towering lobby is filled with Native American art and artifacts. There are two giant totem poles from the Pacific Northwest and a massive stone fireplace (that always has a fire burning, even in the summer!). This fireplace is an interesting detail: the Grand Canyon's geological history is displayed in the strata of rock that forms it. Check-in, restaurants and shopping are located here.

Standard rooms offer two queen beds, with a limited number offering one queen bed and a set of bunk beds (what fun for the kids!). There is also a unique room option available here particularly suited for families. This 'Junior Suite' offers a separate bedroom area and limited kitchen facilities. All rooms have double sinks, a small table with chairs, an armoire with TV and storage and a balcony or patio.

There are two full service restaurants located here plus a couple of lounges and a snack/sandwich place where you can grab a quick meal. Room service operates on a limited schedule. The main dining area is Whispering Canyon Cafe which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a fun, family experience. There are stick horse races during meals for the kids and the wait staff has been known to engage in some humorous tom-foolery (just ask for ketchup!).

Disney's Wilderness Lodge has boat service to the Magic Kingdom® Park , Disney's Fort Wilderness and Disney's Contemporary Hotel. All other areas of Walt Disney World® are serviced by bus.

The rooms are smaller here than at other deluxe hotels, but the cost is a bit less than the other deluxe resorts, too.

A popular place for families because of the casual, terrifically fun atmosphere that prevails.
