There's no overlooking the larger-than-life exteriors and whimsical interiors of the deluxe Swan and Dolphin hotels. They are next door neighbors, located adjacent to Disney's BoardWalk and within walking distance of Epcot® and Disney's Yacht and Beach Clubs.
These two hotels are not owned by Disney. They have recently been bought by Starwood Resorts and Hotels (Westin’s corporate owner). The new ownership has refurbished the rooms and added “Heavenly Beds” and luxury bed linens. Still, they offer many of the same guest benefits as Disney-owned resorts, such as Extra Magic Hours privileges. The one notable difference involves room card charging privileges: you can't use your Swan and Dolphin room card to charge purchases around Walt Disney World®. You can, however, use your room card for charging purchases within the resorts themselves.
Both hotels were designed by noted 'entertainment architect', Michael Graves and reflect the lush tropical landscape of southern Florida. The Swan is easily identified by its exterior's rolling turquoise waves and 46-foot swan statues atop the high-rise hotel. The Dolphin is distinguished by its pyramid shape and 56-foot dolphin statues.
Guest rooms at the Swan are slightly larger than those of the Dolphin. Typical Swan accommodations offer two queen beds, while the Dolphin offers two double beds.
Both have king-bedded rooms available. Both will accommodate up to 4 guests.
The two resorts share many recreational facilities, restaurants, and a childcare program. Between the two hotels there are 17(!) restaurants, cafes and lounges.
There are five pools: both hotels offer lap pools, and they share a large pool complex known as the Grotto. The Grotto pool contains waterfalls, waterslides, water volleyball as well as several hot tubs. The pool area even has its own D.J. to help create a party atmosphere. Camp Dolphin, the children's program, offers both an afternoon (1:30 - 4:30pm) and evening (6-11pm) session, unlike the Disney-owned resorts that just offer evening sessions. It's great for those adults who'd like to get in a round of golf, or grab a massage at the resort spa.
The Swan and Dolphin are conveniently located to Epcot® as part of Disney's BoardWalk complex. Epcot® is within walking distance as are the restaurants of Disney's BoardWalk complex. The Fantasia Gardens miniature golf course is just across the street.
Popular with business people (there's a conference facility on-site) and active families, this resort may be a little too busy for seniors or honeymooners. |
