Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of the three original Disney Resorts - built for the opening of Walt Disney World® in 1971. It is perhaps not as themed as other, newer resorts, but it is focused around the 'future', that is, the 'future' we envisioned as Disney kids.
Disney's Contemporary is a Deluxe Category Resort and, therefore, offers more in terms of amenities - it's almost a city unto itself. There are shops, restaurants, snack bars, lounges, a marina, a white sand beach, a health club and two heated pools with whirlpools. Wow!
Guest rooms are housed in two different types of buildings. First, is the original, massive 15 story A-frame tower. The Tower houses the stunning Grand Concourse with its 90-story mosaic of Native American children and nature scenes. This is the hub of activity for the resort: the majority of dining, shopping and services are located in the Tower. And, let's not forget the monorail! It passes through the Grand Concourse, stopping to collect passengers traveling to the theme parks or other monorail resorts.
All guest rooms here are large, sleeping up to 5 and typically containing two queen beds and a daybed. The Contemporary is phasing in new furnishings for all its rooms and they are beautiful! Gone are the ultra-bright colors and bold patterns. Instead you’ll find an Asian-influenced design with neutral, soothing colors, wood furniture and a flat panel TV!
Concierge accommodations are available. If you are looking for accommodations with spectacular views, look no further. The Tower rooms offer great views of the Magic Kingdom® Park or Bay Lake. If you want a room with a Magic Kingdom® view, be sure to request it when booking. These rooms go fast!
It's a 5-minute walk from Disney's Contemporary Resort to the entrance to the Magic Kingdom®, so its location is another plus. You can also ride the monorail or take a boat to the Magic Kingdom®. Epcot® is just a monorail ride away, and buses are available for the other theme parks, water parks and Downtown Disney®. You can also boat to Disney's Fort Wilderness/Wilderness Lodge Resorts to enjoy the activities and dining found there.
Disney's Contemporary Resort is a good choice for anyone valuing convenience and especially for families with young children because of the short commute to the Magic Kingdom® Park. |
