Historically, the worst months for hurricane and tropical storm activity in the Caribbean is August and September. However, don’t automatically remove fall cruising from consideration.
Safety is the number one priority at the Disney Cruise Line®. If a storm does occur during a cruise, every step is taken to keep everyone safe.
Modern marine weather technology provides everyone on the seas plenty of warning regarding any bad weather that may be brewing. And, Disney Cruise Line® most certainly has a Plan B,C,D and E to avoid story areas. Frankly, hurricanes afloat tend to be more inconvenient than dangerous. You could experience rough seas and your itinerary may be shifted with ports of call being replaced accordingly.
There is always the risk of bad weather for any vacation destination that you choose – whether on land or sea. There is something to be said for being able to hoist anchor and move to better weather rather than being “stuck” in a motel room while the storm rages.
In addition, hurricane season is “off-season” for cruise lines so rates are at their lowest and there are often very good deals to be had. |
