Part of the excitement of any cruise is being able to explore the locations and cultures of the ship’s ports of call. We’ve included the ports on the Disney Cruise Line’s standard Bahamian and Caribbean cruises. And, of course, Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, that is a destination on all of the cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean.
At most of Disney’s Bahamian and Caribbean ports, the ship pulls right up to a dock and you simply step off the ship onto the pier. However, occassionally the ship must anchor away from the pier in open water. In these instances, guests are ferried to shore in boats know as “tenders.” This isn’t difficult; you are loaded into the tender by the ship’s crew who are there to help. Then, just enjoy the ride to shore!
Disney offers shore excursions for all its ports of call. These excursions are at an additional per person cost. You can reserve shore excursions in advance through www.disneycruise.com anywhere from 105 days in advance (for stateroom categories 1-3) to 75 days in advance for categories 4-12. Just make sure your cruise is paid in full.
You can also book excursions through the Shore Excursion Desk onboard. If you reserve in advance, your excursion fees are billed to your shipboard account and you’ll find your shore excursion ticket(s) in your stateroom when you arrive. If you book through the Shore Excursion Desk, your tickets will arrive in your stateroom the night before your scheduled excursion. Your tickets will have the time and meeting location of your excursion printed on them.
As with most cruise lines, Disney does not operate the shore excursions, but contracts with outside (usually local) providers.
Shore excursions can be changed up to two days prior to sailing. After that, excursions cannot be changed and no money will be refunded. |
