The Inside Scoop

Your kids will love this part of their cruise. Your only concern will be how to get them to spend more time with you!

On embarkation day, the Oceaneers’ Club and the Oceaneer’s Lab are open for children and parents to familiarize themselves with the space and procedures. You can enroll your child at that time by fillinf out a short from asking for basic information: name, age, cabin number, etc. The counselors then issue a pager to the parents for them to keep throughout the cruise. Your can register your child online before your trip, but you’ll still need to visit on embarkation day to complete some paperwork and receive your pager.

The safety and security of the children within its care is taken very seriously by Disney. Not only are parents issued a pager so that they may contacted anywhere they happen to be, each child is issued an identifying wristband and name tag to wear while at the Club/Lab.

Kids ages 3 to 7 must have their parents sign them in when they enter the Club and sign them out when they leave. Parents of ages 8 to 9 can choose whether their kids can sign themselves in and out. Kids ages 10 to 12 can sign themselves in or out by default.

The children’s programs are open to children ages 3-12 who are:
Absolutely, totally, completely potty-trained. This means they require no assistance whatsoever in this endeavor.
The child is able to interact comfortably within a group care setting, with peers of their own physical size and within the Disney Cruise Line’s established age groupings.

Exceptions that may prevent participation in the children’s programs:

  • Any child who shows symptoms of a contagious illness: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained skin rash, discharge from eyes or nose, etc.
  • Any child who becomes disruptive while under the care of Disney counselors. If a child cannot be handled by the counselors, it may result in the child being expelled from any participation in the children’s programs.
  • A child with special needs to include: a child that requires one-on-one care or a child that needs the attention of a counselor with specialized training.
The children’s programs do not include swimming for safety and liability reasons. Therefore, the pools onboard or swimming at Castaway Cay are a family-only activity.
